My Teaching Philosophy
“If a child can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way we learn”. – Ignacio Estrada
My personal teaching philosophy is continuously changing and evolving as I gain greater knowledge and understanding of different teaching practices and standards through my professional placement. Although, my current teaching philosophy is to create a safe, stimulating and engaging learning environment which caters to all student’s needs. All students are unique and have different strengths and weaknesses, different ways of learning, and grow and develop skills at different rates. Therefore, as a future teacher I want to help assist and support all students by differentiating within the classroom, I will incorporate different learning styles and create activities which are relevant to the students’ lives.
My personal goal is to create an environment where students are challenged to help reach their full potential in order to help give them the opportunity to grow and develop; mentally, socially, physically and emotionally. I want to inspire and motivate student's learning and encourage critically thinking in a safe and positive learning environment where students feel comfortable enough to make mistakes as it is the process of learning. I will aim to create an inclusive and diverse learning environment that allows students to feel as though they belong and are respected by both the teacher and their peers.
To help achieve my teaching goals and outcomes, and also ensure I am accommodating to all students needs, I will ensure I am patient, approachable, kind, empathetic and fair. I will continuously plan and implement different teaching strategies and activities which will cater to all students learning abilities and levels. I will alter and modify my instructions to reach each individual child to ensure each student has meaningful learning opportunities. I will ensure to constantly reflect and evaluate on my teaching practices and make changes when necessary. Lastly, I will provide students with constructive feedback and set individual learning goals so students can take ownership of their learning and hopefully motivate them to become more active in their learning process.
